Hey guys! A quick post comparing the Illamasqua skin base foundation and the Nars sheer glow foundation. First of all, by a far stretch the two foundations are very different from each other. Ile list below rather than in sentence of the pros and cons for the two foundations. Illamasqua skin foundation - thick liquid formula - satin finish - medium to full coverage - beautiful for photography - easy to blend - can get cakey looking if not careful - not many yellow undertoned shades - I found it hard to match my skin colour from the range they have - suitable for dry, normal and combination skin | |
Nars sheer glow foundation
- not sheer nor glowy
- medium to full coverage
- beautifully photographed
- many yellow undertoned shades
- slides more towards the satin/matte finish
- easy to blend
- suitable for normal and combination skin
I would most definitely favour the Nars sheer glow foundation and even though it states as being 'sheer glow' it really isn't so please don't buy it thinking it's going to add this amazing glow to your skin. However it's a satin/matte finish and looks beautiful on the skin. You can definitely sheer it out by spraying some setting spray on your brush and blending out the foundation. It leaves a nice and even finish throughout and brightens the skin too.
Sadly the Illamasqua skin base foundation was far too thick and cakey for me. Even by sheering it out it just didn't look so good on the skin. I couldn't even find the right shade so I bought their foundation mixer to try and make my own shade but na-a.. Just wasn't happening for me. I must say though that this foundation looks amazing on photographs so ide definitely slap it on for photos only!
