So I had my registry on the 2nd September and although I'm married Islamically, I am now married lawfully so hurray for that. To be quite honest I wasn't excited about it at all. I felt a bit embarrassed saying my vows in front of my brother-in-law so glad that's over with. Me and my husband didn't really plan anything for that day but we then decided to just go out and eat somewhere so before that I headed to Westfield to do some baby shopping. I did a post last week on my pregnancy which was the first I mentioned of this so go check it out or press the link here. Anyway back to the main topic of this post, we went to eat in a restaurant called Jungle braai and they have two of them, one located in Walthamstow and the other located in Brick Lane and we went to the Brick Lane one.
First thing first, the place is halal which is always a good start! Jungle braai was inspired by a guy named Ammo who travelled to Africa and thats where he had brought the flavours back with him of the fresh ingredients to start Jungle braai. The main flavours that you will find within Jungle braai are the peri peri and barbecue flavours. I have taken some pictures of the inside of the restaurant and the food however all the pictures were taken with my iphone as I don't carry my dslr around with me. On that note I need to buy myself a digital camera that gives brilliant shots so that I can travel with it. I will list down below of the food we ordered and I will also mention how it was and of course this is my opinion to how I felt it tasted.

Zulu Chicken Fritters
As starters we both just got one portion of the Zulu chicken fritters which is basically chicken strips in spicy batter with perinaise dip and that cost £4.95. We only got the one starter between us because we wanted to dig into our main and not fill ourselves up with starter. The chicken fritters were beautiful. They were so tasty but when I first got them on our table I was worried that it wouldn't have enough spice as it looked slightly spiceless but was I wrong! It was really tasty and I could have eaten it all. Even the perinaise was yum and it was my first time tasting perinaise. I usually avoid it but I'm welcoming different food and sauces now.
Peri Peri Chips
These are the peri peri chips. What more can I say about these. I love these fat chips, always! They are my favourite but with them being peri peri chips it was even more delicious.
Zulu Lamb Burger
I ended up ordering the Zulu Lamb burger and it was a bigger for me but I managed to finish it all up happily but slowly. It's described as 'two juicy jumbo (230g), 100% flame-grilled patties, red ripe tomato, lettuce and red onions with 2 slices of melted cheese and onion rings'. It was super juicy indeed and it had a nice taste to it, something different because of the sauce that was lathered all over the lamb. There's two lamb inside so it was hard to take the bites so I had to chop the burger in quarters and have it. I would definitely order the lamb burger again but if I was to take another visit there I would order the chicken burger because this time I was debating on whether to get the lamb or chicken burger so chicken will be next. I 100% recommend the lamb burger though so try it out if it sounds good to you.
Lamb Steak
My husband had ordered the lamb steak which he enjoyed thoroughly. I had a little taste of it too and I'm usually not a steak person but I really enjoyed the little I tried of this steak. Here is the description of the steak on the menu 'tender marinated lamb steak with secret african sauce'. My fear of ordering steak is what if it's a really dry steak thats not going down my gob and the biggest one is if it isn't tender enough. This one however was incredibly juicy and tasty too as well as being a tender lamb. You can see how juicy the steak is looking anyway. The sauce that is over the steak is an african sauce as they describe and I guess thats their secret as to what is inside that african sauce. The sauce tasted slightly sweet and theres that hint of peri peri taste in it.
We also ordered the spicy rice and coleslaw. The spicy rice was not quite spicy or even near being spicy but it was still nice to have as a side. The both sides each cost £1.95.
Assalamu-Alaikum ❤
