In less than 2 weeks Zain will be off on his first holiday.. how exciting! I know me and hubs are very excited although I'm trying so hard to not be excited. A little story to tell. After giving birth to Zain I had 2 weddings and a stay over at Manchester for 2 weeks to look forward to in April and that was a 6 month wait for me so I was building my excitement up as each day went by and april came closer. As soon as the first wedding approached my excitement went down the hill when I fell extremely ill and my back bones were shivering! Since the first wedding my mood was off. When I went to stay at my mums in Manchester, Zain decided he didn't want to sleep so much at night and cry and so he did and my nights and day went terrible soooooo and thats a big soooooo I have decided to keep my expectations really low and not be so excited. Good idea right?
The idea of going on holiday with a baby in the heat can be a little daunting and I have no idea how it's all going to pan out but all I can do is be prepared for the worst. I have to be really organised and have everything ready and easy so that I can cope easily. One of my worst fears is Zain crying all the way on the plane. I mean that will literally ruin everything but I have to keep strong and know that my baby will cry, thats what he does and it's all going to be okay. People may get irritated and some may even understand but I will apologise to those getting irritated and hope for the best.
My first step to organise myself is what I will be carrying on the flight for Zain. I already have a changing bag for Zain but I will not be carrying that because I need to think what will be practical and theres no better place to start off with than a backpack. Since booking the holiday I have been looking for a backpack that was big enough, sturdy and looks good as well to suit every outfit I will be wearing but all that needed to come with an affordable price tag. I searched quite a few popular stores like topshop, river island, h&m, new look but finally found my perfect back pack at asos by New Look. The bag I purchased I couldn't find online again but the price was less than £25 which is a bargain. A backpack is perfect for normal days but great for holidays too. Whilst on holiday or on flight I needed a backpack so that I can have my two hands at spare at all times and life is just easier knowing that a light weight thing on my back has all my baby's needs as well as mine.
This new look backpack is brilliant and couldn't have asked for anything more. I love the gold details on the bag that isn't overwhelming or tacky looking. It has a side part where I can put Zains sippy cup or bottle or I may just put tissues or something thats easy to grab quickly. The front has a fairly large pocket where I will be putting my purse, mirror and lipstick etc so my little things I will need. The side of the bag has a popper on it so if I pop it open the bag will open wider which I love because as mother you need the widest opening bag ever. Inside the bag there is another pocket with zip and a side pocket too that is opened. The best part of this bag is that it stands up so I know it won't be all over the place when I place it down somewhere. Below I will list the things I will be putting inside this bag so scroll down guys and hope the list helps you.
What are the essentials?
- Nappies - I will take with me around 8 nappies but will carry 6 in this one only and have another 2 extra in my carry-on bag because you never know that the air up there will do to their tum tums.
- Wipes - to clean their bum and I have started to use Water wipes which I wish I did from the beginning because it steers away from rash.
- Sudo cream - Used for nappy rash on their bum. Always needed.
- Pack of tissue
- Plenty of bibs and dribbler bibs
- Nappy bags - to dispose nappies
- Calpol - to feed before I get onto the flight so that incase his ear pops then he already has a pain relief.
- New & old toys - they have to be entertained with their toys and new ones will just keep them more excited.
- Teether - 6 month olds definitely need this.
- 2 sets of clothes
- Blanket - airlines may provide blanket but always best to keep one they warm to already.
- Finger food
- Main meal - I will keep safe with his favourite creamy porridge and flights are not the best time to try something new for them.
- Bowl and spoon
- Bottle & sip cup & extra - to drink water or juice from and extra incase you lose a bottle
- Sun hat - remember to protect them on the otherside if it's a sunny holiday.
- Nappy mat - to put under when changing nappy.
- Baby lotion - plenty of moisturising needs to go down.
- Baby carrier - this will go inside my carry-on bag but I will need the carrier once I land.
- Travel stroller - a light weight travel stroller will be needed to put him down if he is asleep once I have landed.
